Birthday Ball
Kenzie went to a birthday party today at Libby Lou, the little girl foo-foo paradise. They got their hair done up, nails painted, and everything else covered with glitter. Plus she got about 10 different kinds of lip gloss...that she immediately shared with her little brother.

Family portrait
Here was one of Kenzie's evening's drawings, her family portrait as we are getting ready to go skiing. We all have our ski caps and winter coats. I am constantly amazed by her detail, such as the fact that the zippers aren't straight lines, but are curved more like a real zipper would look. I also like her little brother's hair style. Not sure, though, why I have the crazy eyes.

Sad face
Mason looks like he got hit by a bus today. He hit his head on the toilet (don't ask, I don't know), then he was spinning in circles on the hardwoods and landed face first, splitting his lip wide open(I just heard the thump). He bled for quite a while, but I figured you don't stitch the inside of a lip (right?). I'm not sure how the right cheek became red. What a pathetic little face!

Scary story
One night, at least 1-1/2 years ago, I told Kenzie a scary story. Not sure why, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. It was her first scary story. It was about a little girl who snuck out of the house with a flashlight, went into a dark, damp cave, the flashlight burned out, and she was stuck in the dark. Then she saw two white eyes coming at her and heard footsteps ("thwap, thump...thwap thump"). They got closer, closer, closer...
Kenzie was mesmerized by this story, so I drug it out. In a hushed, scary voice, eyes wide, I told her how the little girl was terrified and the footsteps got louder and the eyes got bigger. She was terrified. "Thwap, thump, the footsteps were getting louder, the white eyes bigger." But, it had a happy ending. The white eyes turned out to be two flashlights that her mother was holding as she came looking for her, and took her home. Kenzie had a huge look of relief. She laughed at the end, as it had definitely captured her attention.
I didn't think about this story again. Until tonight. Mason asked Kenzie for a little whale story. She told a story about a little whale who snuck out of the house with a flashlight, went into a cave, "thwap thump"...it was practically word for word the story I told her when we were in West Seattle. Wow, guess that one made a lasting impression.

Izzy
Sharing the pen [video]
So, Kenzie is all set up now and knows how to blog. This time came a lot quicker than I thought it would. She's fairly self-sufficient. I have a feeling that, if left unchecked, she could become quite prolific. In a matter of about 8 minutes she took 47 pictures and is asking for the camera card back because she didn't take any pictures of Izzy. (I may need a bigger hard drive.) I now have to introduce her to our publishing standards (like spell check).

Thank you
Mason drew a thank-you card to our friend Pat.

We...
This is Kenzie's class assignment. They had to trace the "we" and fill in the blank, then draw a picture. She then folded it into a booklet.

Home decorating [video]
Folks ask me what plans we have for our unfurnished upstairs and I usually say an air hockey table, foosball, or maybe a pool table. Maybe an art area. But, basketball...that's not really what I had in mind. I heard a ruckus, grabbed the camera, and it's all on film.

Night-time art and hugs
Even as insulting as her "thundr and litning" picture may have been, Kenzie is completely enamoured by her little brother. And it's mutual.
